I am about 2 months into my current diet, this is my first time after years of crash diets and eating disorders I have tried just eating healthy, balanced proper portions. I have had weekly cheat days with no restrictions, and if im craving during the week, I eat it. These last two months have been filled with plenty of food guilt, until last week when I realized this is the most successful I have ever been, I have lost 15 pounds and about 3" off my waist, My skin is glowing, and I feel more energized than ever.
1. I have went over my calories quite a few times. I have found as long as I am not eating just because im bored, going 100-200 over my daily limit hasn't hurt me.
2. Cheat days give me something to look forward too, and I don't count calories.
3. On the topic of food guilt, let's talk about slip ups. Have you ever heard the phrase "healing isn't linear"? neither is dieting, or any sort of progress for that matter. mistakes are only mistakes if you don't learn from them, and they are a good sign you are on the right track.
4. if one salad won't make you skinny, one piece of cake won't make you fat. besides, what is the point of life if you aren't going to enjoy it? eat the cake!!
5. learn to embrace where you are in life now, while bettering yourself. things aren't going to change dramatically today, tomorrow or even next week. learn from your mistakes, celebrate small progress and stop comparing yourself to others! in the end, you are who you are and the only thing you should be worried about is being the best you possible.
6. If there are people who commit mass murder with no remorse, you shouldn't feel guilty about eating a donut. (sorry, I'm a true crime you tuber. I think about this one too much)
7. Never, ever, ever, ever ever!!! compare yourself to celebrities or influencers. first off they're liars, second they have many other (expensive) ways to treat themselves. It took me way to long to realize why they have so much discipline when it comes to food. Its the endless vacations, spa days, shopping sprees, way more free time etc. they can afford that we can't. after a long 12 hour shift where nothing goes right, if the only way I can treat myself is a movie and a cup cake, im eating it and you should to, we can't all eat a 12$ kale salad in our mansion ;)
8. My mom passed away when I was 14, she was 42, she got cancer for the first time when she was 37. we are a lot alike. both obsessed with food, dieting and weight loss. I think we both regretted it near the end of her life, I missed out on eating cupcakes on the last birthday we spent together, and there was a lot she didn't get to taste. food isn't your enemy. enjoy your ability to enjoy it while you can :)
